Autisic runner from New York among nation's elite

In the January issue of High School Today, the Above and Beyond section will feature Michael Brannigan, an autistic student-athlete from Northport, New York. Brannigan participates in cross country and track and is considered one of the best interscholastic distance runners in the country.

"Mikey" was named a high school All American by USA Track and Field and has learned to cope and excel with autism through his participation in high school cross country and track.

Brannigan was recently featured on the USATF.TV website by former Olympic gold medalist Dan O'Brien.
