The NFHS is proud to name Deborah Schwartz of Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River, New Jersey as the 2018-19 Fastpitch Softball Coach of the Year!

Coach Schwartz values her place as a coach at Donovan Catholic High School. She knows that she's shaping tomorrow's leaders through sports. The NFHS is honored to name Coach Deborah Schwartz as 2018-19 NATIONAL Fastpitch Softball Coach of the Year!

Seasons Coaching: 33 | State Championships: 4

Coaching Highlights: NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year (2007, 17, 19), earned 600 career wins in 2018, Coach of the Year - APP (2017), NJ Tournament of Champions (2019), ranked #1 softball team in NJ (2019), and numerous coach of the year awards.

Philosophy of Athletics

Coach Schwartz believes that athletics is a great vehicle to enhance the scholastic experience. She believes that athletics is a great tool in teaching students valuable life lessons. Those lessons include respect, patience, tolerance, responsibility, fairness, accountability, humility, the ability to work together for a common goal.
