DIAA Director Kevin Charles to Retire in June

By NFHS on March 15, 2016 state news Print

Kevin Charles, who has led the Delaware Interscholastic Activities Association as executive director since 2005, announced he will retire in June. Charles also served as NFHS President in 2012-13.

“There are no underlying health issues or another job waiting in the wings or anything like that. It’s just that the timing felt right to me,” Charles told the News Journal.

Leading the DIAA's staff of just three full-time employees, Charles has helped Delaware become a leader in inclusion of athletes with disabilities through Unified Sports. Charles also said he is proud of the advancement and improvement of health and safety initiatives in many sports.

“It’s been a great year for DIAA,” Charles said. “We’ve had a really good year thus far. So it seems like a good time to walk away and let somebody else take it to the next level.”
