Ed Nash, who served as executive director of the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) from 1981 to 1993, passed away on his birthday, November 27, at the age of 85.
A lifelong educator, Nash’s first teaching assignment was on Adak Island in Alaska. He later became principal of Chugiak High School before joining the ASAA staff in 1981. Nash served one year (1981-82) on the NFHS Board of Directors to fulfill a term held by Leslie Wells, the previous ASAA executive director.
Nash and his wife, Pat, served in various volunteer capacities after retirement and supported many social-service organizations and Catholic charities throughout Alaska. Sadly, Pat passed away four days after Ed on December 1, 2020.
