Please take the Survey

You are invited to participate in a research study. The purpose of the study is to identify orchestra curriculum and best practices among high school orchestra programs in the United States. To be eligible to participate in this study, you must have taught a high school orchestra as a regular part of your teaching assignment within the last two academic years, 2019-2020 or 2020-2021. The survey should take only about 5 minutes to complete.

If you are eligible and agree to participate, we would like you to answer an online survey with questions based on various aspects of your orchestra program. If you choose not to participate simply do not fill out the online survey. You will receive a reminder to complete the survey three days prior to the survey deadline. You may also leave any of the questions in the survey blank if you prefer to not answer.

We will keep the information you provide anonymous, however federal regulatory agencies and The Ohio State University Institutional Review Board (a committee that reviews and approves research studies) may inspect and copy records pertaining to this research.

Your responses will be anonymous to ensure that they cannot be linked to you. There are no known risks from being in this study, and you will not benefit personally. However, we hope that others may benefit in the future from what we learn as a result of this study.

The survey will be conducted using a NFHS data collection tool. All survey responses that we receive will be treated confidentially and stored on NFHS’s servers. However, given that the surveys can be completed from any computer (e.g., personal, work, school), we are unable to guarantee the security of the computer on which you choose to enter your responses. As a participant in our study, we want you to be aware that certain "key logging" software programs exist that can be used to track or capture data that you enter and/or websites that you visit.

Your participation in this research study is completely voluntary. If you decide not to be in this study, or if you stop participating at any time, you will not be penalized or lose any benefits for which you are otherwise entitled.

There is no way the researcher can identify where a survey participant teaches, or who the survey participants identity, outside of the state of employment and any voluntary information provided for later phases of the study.

Due to the nature of the survey some questions may create feelings of being upset or frustrated when reflecting on personal job performance.
