On April 7, Indianapolis (Indiana) Roncalli sophomore outfielder Tommy Hansen hit three grand slams in three consecutive at-bats, driving in all 12 runs in Roncalli’s 12-1 victory over Metamora Township (Ill.) High School in a game played in Louisville, Kentucky.  Hansen finished 3-for-3 in the game.

According to the National High School Sports Record Book, Hansen set a new national record by hitting grand slams in three consecutive at-bats in separate innings. Hitting out of the cleanup spot, he hit a no-out grand slam in the first inning. He followed that up with a two-out grand slam in the second inning.  His final grand slam came in the fourth inning with no outs. According to the Record Book, six players shared the previous record with grand slams in two consecutive at-bats in separate innings.  The most recent was Corey Bell of West Point James O’Neill (N.Y.) in 2007. According to the Record Book, Hansen is the sixth player to hit three grand slams in one game.  The most recent was Zac Jancek of Montague (Mi.) in 2005.
