The NFHS is proud to name Lois Emshoff of Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona as the 2018-19 Girls Badminton Coach of the Year!
A strong believer in the value of athletics at the interscholastic level, Coach Lois Emshoff has been a pillar of her school for years. She became a teacher in 1970 and has been a constant figure in her school and community ever since. From her volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul to running the clock at football and basketball games, she takes her role in her school and community very seriously.

Coaching Highlights: Inducted into the Agua Fria High School Hall of Fame (early 1970s), Arizona Republic Coach of the Year in (1977, 78), 11 regional titles at Chandler High School since 1972, City of Chandler's Athletic Hall of Fame (2014), Arizona Badminton Association Hall of Fame (2014), Arizona High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame (2016), and the You Paved the Way Hall of Fame (2017).
Philosophy of Athletics
Lois believes that athletics is a word which encompasses an environment, whereas an individual will be involved in a competitive atmosphere involving discipline of mind and body. An athlete learns fundamentals, skills, strategies, good health habits and mental toughness, as well as development of cohesiveness in a positive manner. And, whatever the outcome, he or she will feel accomplishment. Athletics build character!
