Louisiana is now the 45th state association to sanction girls wresting championships, with the addition of a girls division to the state high school wrestling championships for the 2024-25 school year, according to a report from USA Wrestling.
The report stated the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) on January 25, approved a proposed amendment to its handbook to add a single girls division to its wrestling championships. The proposal includes competing in 12 weight classes with girls wrestling as adopted by the NFHS Wrestling Rules.
