NCHSAA Starts “Sportsmanship … Together we make the right call” Initiative

Over the past several years, there has been an increase in unsporting behavior across the country. In North Carolina, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association has seen an upswing in the number of ejections.

The NCHSAA believes we can and must do better.

Education-based athletics is an extension of the classroom. It is difficult to learn the lessons expected through high school athletics in an environment that is lacking good behavior, sportsmanship and respect for all.

That is why the NCHSAA is stepping up its efforts to promote good sportsmanship at our member schools through the “Sportsmanship … Together we make the right call” initiative.

To promote the campaign, the NCHSAA put together two public service announcements with NCHSAA Student-Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Parents getting the word out about what sportsmanship and education-based athletics is really all about. Those announcements will premiere on Time Warner Cable’s High School Blitz Show on September 6th at 5:00 p.m. The initiative will also be promoted throughout NCHSAA social media platforms using the hashtag #SportsmanshipTogether. Throughout the year, each social media platform will be highlighting those who lead by example in the area of sportsmanship.
