USA Football announced today the hiring of MIKE KRUEGER to serve as its director of coaching. Krueger joins USA Football following four years as Aurora (Colo.) Public Schools’ district athletic director. Throughout his 26 years of service in public education Krueger has held several leadership roles and committee appointments with the Colorado High School Activities Association, the Colorado Athletic Directors Association (CADA) and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
The Colorado native will be responsible for several USA Football innovations and projects to further advance America’s favorite sport. His work will involve USA Football’s adaption of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s American Development Model for football, USA Football’s medical and football advisory committees and coaching education projects. USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, trains more high school and youth football coaches combined than any organization in the United States.

Krueger’s career is decorated with numerous national and state-wide awards, including the CADA’s 2011-12 Athletic Director of the Year and its 2015-16 Kurby Lyle Service Awards. He also earned the NIAAA’s 2012-13 State Award of Merit and a 2017 National Federation of State High School Associations Citation, presented to outstanding athletic directors for contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local, state and national levels. In addition, Krueger served as an associate professor at Metro State University in Denver.
