Sue Phillips, girls basketball coach at Archbishop Mitty High school (AMHS) in San Jose, California, and Seimone Augustus, one of the greatest high school players in history from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, were among the seven individuals selected November 30 for the 2024 class of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Phillips has won 789 games in 29 years at AMHS, which includes 62 overall titles and six California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) state championships. She also has claimed 25 league titles, 24 Central Coast Section championships and 15 NorCal titles.

Phillips was the head coach for the 2021 USA Basketball’s U16 gold-medal team and the head coach for USA Basketball’s U17 National Team at the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Hungary. Phillips has led USA Basketball U16 and U17 teams to four gold medals.

Augustus, who was inducted into the NFHS National High School Hall of Fame in 2019, was a two-time Miss Basketball at Capitol High School in Baton Rouge and scored 3,600 points and pulled down 1,728 rebounds in her four years. She was the No. 1 ranked player in the country as a senior.

Other members of the 2024 class include Maya Moore and Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Augustus’ teammates with the Minnesota Lynx; Violet Palmer, a college and NBA/WNBA official; Rita Gail Easterling, a player at Mississippi College in the 1970s; and Roonie Scovel, longtime coach of Gulf Coast State College in Florida.
