The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) is celebrating and recognizing PIAA registered officials with a series of Appreciation Weeks throughout the school year. The first appreciation week for Fall Officials was October 3-9.

As part of its kickoff, PA Rep. Anita Astorino Kulik presented a citation recognizing the first appreciation week to PIAA Executive Director Bob Lombardi and Assistant Executive Director Patrick Gebhart.

PIAA Board of Directors President and PIAA District 2 Chairman Frank Majikes said, “the dedicated efforts of all PIAA registered officials need to be recognized and by celebrating their efforts all member schools can show their appreciation for officials.” Majikes has been a registered PIAA official for more than 50 years, which makes these weeks are especially meaningful to him.

There are nearly 14,000 PIAA registered officials in the Commonwealth and the celebration will target those that currently work fall sports. Both winter and spring sport officials will be recognized during the months of January and April 2022.

Please assist us in recognizing all PIAA registered sports officials during these weeks by highlighting actions that would thank officials for their dedication and involvement in interscholastic athletics.
