The NFHS is proud to name Richard DeSomma of Freedom-South Riding High School in South Riding, Virginia as the 2017-18 Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year!

Coach DeSomma of Freedom-South Riding High School in Virginia is always striving "to create an environment that honors the beauty of the game and where excellence is the reward of hard work." In the 2018 season, he led his team to a VHSL Girls Lacrosse State Championship and was named the NFHS NATIONAL Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year for the 2017-18 school year. Way to go Coach DeSomma!

Coach DeSomma strives to teach girls lacrosse the right way while helping every girl to meet their potential to be the best player they can be. He works to create an environment that honors the beauty of the game and where excellence is the reward of hard work. Fielding teams that are a joy to play and a pleasure to watch is always his aim.
