Special Olympics videos encourages students to "Play Unified"

By NFHS on January 20, 2015 blog Print

Special Olympics established Unified Sports with a focus on the intellectually disabled. The program pairs a special-needs athlete with a peer without a disability. The mission of the program is to give students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy — all while developing friendships.

The following videos encourage schools and students to start and participate in Unified Sports.

The first video is a "Recruitment Letter" from Special Olympics to participate in Unified Sports.

The second video showcases the newly created Unified Track Program by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
