The NFHS is proud to name Terry Curtis of UMS-Wright Preparatory School of Mobile, Alabama as the 2018-19 Football Coach of the Year!
Terry Curtis is more than just a football coach, he's also the Athletic Director at UMS-Wright. Overseeing 22 varsity sports teams and 50+ head coaches while also serving as a football coach certainly keeps him busy. Though he's received many honors throughout his 46 season career, he still keeps education at the center of his coaching philosophy. Philosophy of Athletics
Coach Curtis believes that athletics are an essential part of a child’s overall educational career. Athletic programs are designed to create the opportunity for a quality experience for all students regardless of their knowledge, interest, or level of expertise. He always uses the mission of UMS-Wright Preparatory School: “to develop the individual in mind, body, and spirit” as support for athletic programs. He understands the importance of education, but there are a lot of life lessons learned outside of the classroom on the field, courts, and track.
