A three-time All-American and integral member of the United States Women’s National Team, Catherine “Cat” Reddick Whitehill was no stranger to success by high school. En route to capturing four straight Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) soccer titles with Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama, Whitehill eclipsed the state record for most career goals.

A multi-sport athlete, Whitehill also twice played in the AHSAA girls basketball final four. Her soccer talents led her to play for the University of North Carolina, where she won the 2003 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy as the sport’s top player and helped guide the Tar Heels to an undefeated championship season.

Whitehill appeared in the World Cup with Team USA in 2003 and 2007, and won gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She played in the United States through her 2015 retirement with the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Boston Breakers, and has since served as an assistant coach in both the NWSL and college. #TitleIXat50
