Title IX Milestones: Natalie Williams (Utah)

A two-sport athlete at Taylorsville (Utah) High School, Natalie Williams was the first female to earn basketball and volleyball All-America honors in a single season while playing at UCLA. She was selected No. 3 overall by the Utah Starzz in the 1999 WNBA Draft, and later led USA Basketball to gold in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Williams played for UCLA from 1990-94, leading the Bruins to NCAA volleyball titles in 1990 and 1991. She earned the Honda Sports Award as the nation’s best female collegiate volleyball player in both 1992 and 1993.

On the hardwood. Williams averaged 20.4 points through her college basketball career, leading UCLA to the Sweet Sixteen in 1992. In addition to a multi-year WNBA career, she led USA Basketball to FIBA World Cup wins in 1998 and 2002.

After retiring from the WNBA in 2005, Williams continued her career in basketball as a coach of high school and club teams in Utah. #TitleIXat50
