South Dakota was the first state to use a 28.5-inch basketball for girls, and the libero position and rally scoring for volleyball. These advances are now common nationally and started under the oversight of Ruth Rehn, who was the first South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) executive to oversee girls sports. #TitleIXat50
