Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run in the Boston Marathon as a numbered entrant. She was a renowned multi-sport athlete at James Madison and George C. Marshall High Schools in Vienna, Virginia, where she also played field hockey and girls basketball. #TitleIXat50
