As demonstrated by this year's NBA Finals, singlehandedly leading a team to a championship is quite a difficult task, even for the most talented of athletes.

However, that is exactly what Grassfield (Virginia) High School’s Grant Holloway did at the Virginia High School League 6A state track and field championships this June. Holloway, a junior, accumulated an incredible 44 points for the Grizzlies en route to the outright team title.

Also a standout wide receiver on the football team, Holloway won four out of the five events he entered at the state meet. He won the 110-meter hurdles in 13.61 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles in 36.73 seconds, the high jump with a mark of 6-8, and finished fifth in the 200-meter dash. Most impressive was his performance in the long jump, which he won with a 6A-record leap of 25 feet, 8-3/4 inches, a jump that was unmatched by any high school athlete in the nation this year.
